Quick answer

For a standard maisonette, plan 4 cameras: main gate, front door, backyard and parking or side path. For a shop with one till and a store room, plan 6 to 8 cameras.

Homes and apartments

Apartments with one door often need 2 to 4 cameras. Townhouses with a gate usually need 4 to 8. Large compounds may need 8 to 16.

Shops and offices

Cover the entrance, till or reception, stock room and rear door. Wide floors need overlapping views so nobody hides between aisles.
